Understand the different types of web traffic.

We are all trying to generate traffic but it is not true. There is already traffic on the internet, all you have to do is attract some traffic to your business.

You must be thinking how can you do this?

By capturing attention.

Attention is the new currency

Story and offer are two components that will help you grab attention.

Think of a luxury showroom without customers?

It is very similar to having a beautiful website without regular traffic.

In this article, I will be discussing the “traffic strategy”.

There is so much competition in the market. Everyone is doing SEO, Paid Media, etc. How can you consistently get quality traffic and be successful in your business?

I will share the exact strategy with you.

There are 3 properties of traffic:

Cold Audience (Awareness)

This audience is aware of their problem. They are interested in your products or services but had no prior association. We target them based on their interests, demographics, and behavior.

Warm Audience (Value)

They are already consuming some value on your behalf. This can be any lead magnet like eBooks, templates, checklists, consultations, etc. At this stage, we have to focus on trust-building activities.

Hot Audience (Fan)

They have already consumed your gated content and will buy from you if you put the right offer in front of them.

The right audience will never buy your wrong offer. So Plan your offer according to your audience’s desire or pain.

The problem with most marketers is that they treat everyone the same. Not everyone is ready to buy your products right away.

The temperature of your marketing messages should match the temperature of your traffic.

Understand the larger market formula

According to this each target market has the top 3% of the audience who are in buying mode.

The remaining 17% is in the information-gathering mode.

20% are problem aware and 60% are not problem aware mode.

But we approach selling equally at all levels.

Do you think that audiences who are in a position to gather information or are not aware of the problem are going to buy immediately?

Not at all!

But your uninterested audience can also be converted into paying customers if you have the right system in place to nurture and educate them.

Audiences that are in the top 3% are more likely to make an immediate purchase.

eg. I need to buy running shoes now. Because I will start working out tomorrow.

There is urgency here and in this case, the audience is very much like they mostly know what they really want. If they are a fan of a specific brand then they will go for it without any further searching.

People who are gathering information or problem aware:

eg. I am looking to buy good running shoes.

Here the audience is aware of the problem and is asking for information about products, they are asking with friends, searching online, checking reviews, etc.

So this 37% (17%+20%) market size is the real power where you can make a profit and sell your products or services.

The Remaining 60% is also potential but most marketers don’t care about them. If you do this you will get an additional benefit.

If we start educating them about running shoes, their benefits, and how it can help them achieve major health goals. When they come to know about the quality of the products along with the awareness and when you come up with the right offer at the right time then they will buy them from you.

The better the demand you create, the bigger profits you can make.

There are 3 types of traffic

Traffic you control

We run PPC campaigns, Facebook ads, Google ads, etc. to drive traffic to our website. Here we can control the traffic like the amount of traffic we are looking for.

Where and what type of people will visit our site. We can control every damn thing.

Traffic you don’t control

There is organic traffic here that you cannot control. Like social media posts, SEO. You cannot control the organic audience to take any action. Sometimes traffic may come to your post and other times not. Sometimes you move your website to a higher rank in SERP (Search engine result page) and it goes down when Google brings new updates or policy changes. So you can’t control all those things.

Traffic you own

Third and best is the traffic you own. Here is the audience you can control. You can allow your audience to take a specific action any number of times. You can build an email list, private community, subscribed members, etc.

Traffic generation is how we take strangers and convert them into customers. It should all be based on a sales funnel strategy. This is incredibly important to the success of your inbound marketing strategy.
